Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the dental branch that involves straightening of crooked and crowded teeth,
closing gaps and achieving the perfect bite for children and adults.
Following the orthodontic treatment, which involves wearing dental braces for a period of
time, the aim is both to straighten the teeth and to regulate the occlusion (the bite).
Stages of the Orthodontic treatment:
1. Specialist consultation through imaging records (X-rays, Cephalometric X-rays, CT Scan) depending on the needs of the case.
2. Treatment planning
3. Treatment of all factors that can affect the efficiency and compromise the braces treatment through cleaning, fillings, extractions, etc.
4. The application of the dental braces, which can be fixed or removable, visible or invisible depending on the case needs and the patient’s desires.
During the orthodontic treatment, the patient will have to present to the clinic for a
monthly check-up visit, in order to adjust and activate the dental braces, by frequently
tightening or changing the wires and ligatures.

When is the orthodontic treatment recommended?
Generally, the orthodontic treatment is better started from childhood, around the age of 7, or when the child has between 4 & 6 baby teeth left. At this stage of development, the physician may already notice any problems of the jaw growth and misalignment of the permanent teeth.
How much time does an orthodontic treatment take?
The time of the braces treatment varies depending on the difficulty of the case, after the initial specialist consultation, the specialist can evaluate the difficulty of the case and estimate the time of the treatment. Usually, an average braces case treatment takes around 1 year and a half to complete and achieve the perfect alignment and bite.
How much time does it take to apply the braces
The application of the brackets on one jaw take around 30-45mins, if both jaws are advised to be treated at the same time, they could be fitted in the same day. So yes, in around one hour you will leave our clinic with your Top & Bottom braces fitted.
What is recommended after finishing the treatment?
After removing the braces, a retainer is the key of maintaining the results of your treatment,
as the teeth have memory of their previous alignment, they tend to move back to their
original wrong place if left without a retainer.
Types of Retainers:
1. Fixed retainer (applied on the back side of your teeth)
2. Removable retainer (To be worn during the night)
